The story of Daloon
From the beginning
A one-way ticket to the Trans-Siberian Railway in 1935, with a desire to study agriculture in Denmark, a “big dragon” and a Chinese revolution that got in the way. That’s the recipe for a real adventure.
A personal adventure for Sai-Chiu Van that ended in Denmark, and a business adventure that started thousands of kilometers from home with Chinese spring rolls.
The business adventure that came to be called Daloon (the big dragon in Chinese) started in 1960 with Sai-Chiu Van making spring rolls in his basement. Spring rolls that were sold from a hot dog stand in Tivoli. Van was in many ways ahead of his time and you could say that he brought the Asian street food concept to Denmark even back then.
Daloooon – lies comfortably in the stomach
Danes quickly embraced the exotic spring rolls, filled with good ingredients, and the red bag quickly became a part of Danish dinner tables. Daloon achieved cult status in the 80s and 90s – both through the commercials that made Danes say “Daloooon – lies well stomach” and through iconic TV shows like the Sonny Souffle Chok show, where the Bisp brothers drove a violent Volvo and wanted soy in the roll. In 2020, the spring roll was again immortalized on the Danish cultural scene, this time in Klovn the Final, where a planned trip to Iceland is ruined and the main characters instead stay home, where they end up living on spring rolls for weeks.
To this day, the classic spring roll is still one of the favorites. However, Daloon is much more than the classic roll. Spring Rolls for oven in new and familiar flavors, numerous veggie products and plenty of snack products for every occasion. What they all have in common is that they are good inside and filled with good ingredients.
… and there are many new, delicious products ready for the future, so Daloon can continue the adventure.
